From Bridge Leaders...Anna Marie Lawrence, Derrick Sparks, and Michele May
We are coming to the end of the school year, and I can imagine cheering from students and teachers alike. Throughout this last 9 months, we have done a lot through The Bridge Ministry. We have learned, laughed, and loved together as we’ve been challenged to grow in our faith through Sunday evening activities, Wednesday evening Pre-Confirmation and Confirmation classes, retreats, mission projects, and special activities. It has been an awesome year! I want to thank our Bridge coordinators, Anna Marie Lawrence and Derrick Sparks. I also want to thank our other volunteers: Emily Jones and Andrea Smith.
As we close out this school year, I want to let you know several things about The Bridge Ministry. Originally, we were going to follow the Wednesday evening Meals and Ministry schedule. Our Wednesday evening program is going so well that we want to continue it through the summer. So, we will continue to meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8 PM. We hope your student will be able to participate as we discover new ways to grow in our faith. There are several dates that we will NOT meet because we are offering special Family Events.
Wed. June 6: VBS
Wed. June 20: Family Ministries Event, Trip to Stone Mountain Park, 2 PM
Wed. July 4: Church office closed, NO BRIDGE
Wed. July 25: Family Ministries Event, Ice Cream Social/Open Gym, 6:30 PM
We will NOT meet on Sunday evenings during the summer. We are giving our volunteers some time off. Our last regular Sunday evening time together before our break will be Sunday, May 6 (6 PM) during which time we will celebrate our graduates. We will give out an updated calendar at this time, also.
We will have several church-wide events on Sunday evenings:
Sunday, May 27: Church-wide Picnic, 3 PM
Sunday, June 3: VBS, 5 PM
Sunday, July 29: Bridge only event (tentative Movie Marathon)
Sunday, August 5: Special District-wide Worship with Tony Campolo
The Family Ministries is also sponsoring two camps this summer for children Pre-School age and up. Monday, June 25-Friday, June 29 from 9-12 noon, there will be a Science and Cooking Camp. Monday July 16-Friday, July 20 from 9-12 noon, there will be an Art and Drama Camp. The Bridge students are able to participate or may volunteer to help. More information will follow.
We continue to have a need for additional volunteers with our Bridge ministry. Please join us in prayer for this need.
